How to Register As An MTN Momo Agent

The MTN Mobile money (MoMo) is an alternative platform developed by MTN for persons to be able to Store Money, Send and Receive money across the Available countries.

At the launch of Momo Agent, Usoro Usoro, General Manager, Mobile Financial Services, said the Momo service in Nigeria was part of the company’s strategic plan to drive financial inclusion and reduce poverty level.

This actually means that through the MTN Momo Platforms, one can easily transfer and receive money even without owning a bank account. Activating the MoMo platform with your SIM virtually creates a mobile wallet which could also be funded through your bank account if you own one or by another person who owns the MoMo Account.

Requirements For Registration

• Have an existing business or willing to invest in the agency business
• Have a Brick & Mortar/Immovable retail shop e.g. Pharmacy Pop & Mom Shop located in high foot traffic
• Viable means of identification (National ID, Driver’s License, International passport or Voters card)
• Readiness to provide 1 passport photograph.
• Capability to provide a Working Capital of N20,000 and above.

Once the following requirements are available, you can proceed to register as a MoMo Agent by visiting the nearest  MTN office to pick and fill a form.

How to Create A Momo Agent Wallet Using Your Phone

This is a simpler and easy form of registering as an MTN Momo Agent. This method will require a valid MTN SIM card with correct registration details of you. (i.e. Your Correct Name, Date of Birth and Bio-Data). 

Creating the MoMo Agent Wallet converts your Phone number into a wallet where you can store funds, transfer and receive. With this wallet, you can also pay pills (utility, electricity, recharge cards, television, e-pins)

If you you are certain of this requirements, then follow the steps below;

• Using your Valid MTN Sim, Dial *502#
• Follow the instructions
• A message will be sent in the format, " Congrats, [your name] Your MoMo wallet has been opened . Your Phone number 080*******09  is now your account number"
• Proceed to Funding your wallet 

Who Can Become A MoMo Agent?

Anyone who fulfills the requirements From the age of 18 can become a MoMo Agent. Another paramount thing is that as an intending agent, you must own a valid MTN sim registered with your correct details.
